MANUAL FOR ORDINARY PASSPORT HOLDERS

  1. NONIMMIGRANT VISA (duration of stay up to 90 days)

Malagasy Embassies or Consulates issue a nonimmigrant visa (duration of stay not exceeding ninety (90) days).

Nota bene:

IMPORTANT: the size of each ATTACHMENT file SHOULD NOT EXCEED 50 kilobytes (50 KB).

Attachments required for all applicants:

  1. A copy of your passport (data pages) valid for more than six months, in .jpg  format
  2. A passport-size digital photo ID (431 pixels x 555 pixels) in .jpg  format

Additional attachments, depending on the nature of the request:

Medical care

  • Medical certificate (issued by a physician)
  • Registration to a local Hospital

Scientific Research

  • Research permit issued by either the Ministry in charge of Scientific Research, the Ministry in charge of Higher Education or the Ministry in charge of the Environment

Yachting

Boat sailing

  • Ship registration and relevant documents to be submitted to the Port Captain, including (Port of departure, Itinerary, Crew members and passengers’ information list, Release authorization issued by the nearest Merchant Marine Service, Exact date of entry and stay within the Malagasy maritime territory)

Film shooting

  • Filming permit issued by the Ministry in charge of Information and the Ministry in charge of Culture

Cruise

  • List of crew members and passengers including their nationality and the passport number and its date of issuance

Short-Term Business/Affairs

  • Business invitation letter from the sponsoring company
  1. IMMIGRANT VISA (duration of stay over 90 days)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Madagascar issues a 72-hour entry visa or boarding permit in order to obtain a transformable one-month visa, extendible for a long-stay visa, for immigrants. This type of visa is essential before any long-stay visa application to the Ministry of Interior.

However, nationals of countries where Madagascar has a diplomatic and / or consular representation must submit their visa applications to these representations.

IMPORTANT: the size of each ATTACHMENT file SHOULD NOT EXCEED 50 kilobytes (50 KB).

Attachments required for all applicants:

  1. A copy of your passport (data pages) valid for more than six months, in .jpg  format;
  2. A passport-size digital photo ID (431 pixels x 555 pixels) in .jpg  format ;
  3. Copy of the criminal record issued by the country of origin less than 6 months (to be translated in English or French by an official translator) in .pdf format;
  4. Certificate of accommodation and assumption (Sample or form to be collected at EDBM ) with authenticated signature or Lease contract in .pdf format;
  5. Certificate of residence of the host in .pdf format.

Investor

  • Registered statutes of the company
  • Statistical card of the company
  • Extract from the Trade and Companies Register (RCS)
  • Updated Tax Card of the company
  • Banking certificate of the company
  • Tax clearance certificate

Worker

  • Employment contract stamped by the Ministry of Public Service
  • Employment authorization or work permit issued by the Ministry of Public Service
  • Certificate of employment from the employer
  • Extract from the Trade and Companies Register
  • Updated Tax Card of the company
  • Statistical card of the company
  • Copy of the National Identity Card (ID) OR Resident Card (RC) of the Company’s Manager

Family reunion

  • Birth certificate (child < 21 years old)
  • Marriage certificate (spouse) and long-term visa of the spouse
  • Copy of the spouse or parents visa or Resident Card

Religious Missionaries

  • Certificate of membership
  • Proof of accommodation issued by its congregation legally established in Madagascar
  • certificate of financial responsability issued by its congregation legally established in Madagascar
  • Certificate of existence of the worship Association, issued by Ministry of the Interior  (deposit receipt)

Volunteer workers

  • Volunteer Employment Authorization issued by the Ministry of Public Service (for secular missionaries)

Retired People

  • Bank certificate
  • Retirement or Pension Certificate

Students

  • Copy of the last Diploma
  • Proof of enrolment in a Public or Private Institution acknowledged by the Malagasy Government
  • Scholarship certification or evidence of financial sustainability (Affidavit duly signed and legalized, and a copy of the pay stub)

Native

  • Birth certificate issued by a competent Malagasy authority

Scientific Research

  • Research permit issued by the Ministry of Scientific Research, the Ministry of Higher Education or the Ministry of Environment
